PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

>Recognize subsets of true hyperhidrosis, including palmoplantar, axillary and facial

>Understand practical techniques for the medical treatment of hyperhidrosis, including topical aluminum chloride, oral anticholinergics, ionotophoresis, and Botulinum Toxin Type A injection.

>Gain proficiency in skills needed to properly perform thoracoscopic sympathectomy

>Understand the nuances nad controversies in thoracoscopic techniques, including clamping, resection, sympathicotomy, ganglionectomy, ramicotomy, and level of sympathectomy

>Recognize those subsets of hyperhidrosis patients who will require sympathectomy surgery versus those patients who will benefit from medical interventions

>Understand treatment strategies for axillary and facial hyperhidrosis, including medical treatment, local surgery, and sympathectomy

>Recognize the benefits and pitfalls of the medical and surgical treatment strategies for hyperhidrosis

TARGET AUDIENCE
The symposium is designed for thoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, pediatric thoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, dermatologists, internal medicine physicians, general practice physicians, residents, fellows, nurses and those involved in the care and treatment of individuals with hyperhidrosis.

Hotel reservations can be made at the US Grant Hotel by contacting the Reservations Department directly at 866-837-4270 or 619-232-3121.  You must state that you are attending Hyperhidrosis: Practical Techniques and Controversies in Medical and Surgical Management meeting in order to receive the special rate of $279 plus tax for single or double occupancy.  The San Diego International Airport is approximately two miles from the hotel.  We recommend taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel as your best mode of transportation.  All reservations must be received by January 22, 2009 to receive this special rate.
