Atrial Fibrillation is a heart arrhythmia currently affecting over 2 million Americans, and the technology and surgical treatments for atrial fibrillation are rapidly advancing.

Realizing the need for education in this area, Ralph J. Damiano, Jr, MD, Chief of Cardiac Surgery at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the Washington University School of Medicine, and an expert in the area of atrial fibrillation sought to develop program that provides surgeons with:

  • The electrophysiological mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation
  • The traditional medical and surgical treatments for atrial fibrillation
  • The various surgical approaches for the treatment of atrial fibrillation
  • The role of emerging technologies and new energy sources in the treatment of atrial fibrillation

Promedica International CME partnered with Dr. Damiano to create an AMA PRA Category 1 activity to meet these objectives. Two segments were developed: a one day didactic session featuring lectures and case videos from world-renowned experts in atrial fibrillation, and a half-day hands-on wet lab which included stations where surgeons practice with several different ablation devices and techniques under the guidance of the expert faculty.

This meeting has reached global proportions as a result of a comprehensive marketing plan developed and implemented by Promedica International CME.
